Welcome to my happy place!
Thanks for stopping by
Hi, I’m Stephanie Thomas the founder of Cur8able and I work as a disability fashion stylist, speaker, and consultant. On Cur8able.com I share content curated according to the standards of my DISABILITY FASHION STYLING SYSTEM: ACCESSIBLE, SMART, FASHIONABLE™. I happily do this work in order to bridge the gap between where the fashion industry is and where it must inevitably go to be more inclusive.
Dressing and undressing involve a very complex set of motions. They’re among the most complicated things we do in daily life.
Mary Eleanor Brown
Functional fashion pioneer Mary Eleanor Brown said, ” dressing and undressing involve a very complex set of motions. They’re among the most complicated things we do in life.” I totally agree and I get it personally and professionally. I was born an amputee missing digits on my right hand and feet, and for over two decades I’ve researched clothing and retail trends for people with disabilities by listening to the end users, other people with disabilities, and in addition to dressers and caregivers. I’m uniquely qualified to do this work, and I love it!
My years of experience taught me patience. I understand the attitudinal barriers facing disabled fashion customers which is why the tone of Cur8able.com is:
- Personal – Conversational
- Pointed – Focused on dressing with disabilities
- Hopeful – Future focused and optimistic
This includes new voices from fashion journalists, academics, and community members interested in sharing their thoughts and ideas about fashion and dressing with disabilities.
I’m so happy to have you here, don’t be a stranger.
